Body Stress Release is a unique complementary health technique that was researched and developed in South Africa in the 1980s by Gail and Ewald Meggersee and is now practiced worldwide. The need to develop this technique arose from Ewald Meggersee’s debilitating pain he suffered from, after he fell out of a tree at the age of five.

WHAT IS BODY STRESS RELEASE?
Body Stress Release is a health profession concerned with unlocking the tensions stored in physical structures, thereby assisting the body in restoring its maximum efficiency.
This gentle technique assists the body in its own healing process and brings effective relief from many forms of tension, pain and discomfort caused by the build-up of stress in the body.
When the stresses of life - whether mechanical, chemical or mental/emotional - reach the level of overload,the body is no longer able to adapt constructively. The stress becomes locked into the physical structures, causing pain, stiffness, numbness or postural distortions. This stored tension has an impact on the nervous system and undermines the body's natural ability to co-ordinate its functions and heal and maintain itself.

The growth of Body Stress Release
Tens of thousands of people around the world have benefited from Body Stress Release since the Meggersees opened their first practice in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1981. Many of their clients, like Ewald himself, had tried traditional avenues of medical treatment without success. The Meggersees had developed a gentle, almost miraculous way of enhancing the body’s own healing powers by releasing long-held stress in the body. They knew it worked because their prime guinea pig, Ewald, had gone from being a near cripple to regaining his strength and having a pain-free body. Ewald used to say that his body continues to upgrade with regular Body Stress Release. Clients experienced the benefits of this amazing technique and word quickly spread. Their practice began to grow exponentially and it became clear that more practitioners were needed. The first course was held in 1987 and the number of practitioners around the world continues to grow.
