TEACHING ACADEMIES
There are currently 2 teaching academies, one in South Africa in Rondevlei, Garden Route, Western Cape, and one in the United Kingdom in the Norfolk Broads.
THE SOUTH AFRICAN BODY STRESS RELEASE ACADEMY
The South African Body Stress Release Academy is located at Rondevlei, a small village near the scenic lakes on the Garden Route in the Western Cape. Rondevlei is 6km from a major highway, the N2. The nearest towns are Wilderness and Sedgefield, each about 10km away with the largest towns in the area being Knysna and George. George airport is a 35 minute drive from the Academy.
It is nestled against a hill, where the call of the Fish Eagle is often heard, and one of the five lakes in the Wilderness area can be viewed from the front lawn. The Academy has two classrooms and a library of 1000 books. Leisure activities in the area include hiking, bird-watching and water sports on the sea, lakes and lagoons. Reasonably priced accommodation is available in local holiday cottages and guest suites.
The Academy faculty is made up of highly experienced South African Body Stress Release practitioners, namely Boetie Toerien, Sandy Damant, Mary Parker, Benita Terblanche and Juliet Perkin.
Since the death of Gail Meggersee in 2021 the Body Stress Release Academy Trust has been responsible for running the BSR training course and does so in accordance with her Letter of Wishes, as the Founder of the Trust. In her letter of wishes she states inter alia that the course is intended “…not only to equip the students with the necessary intellectual and physical skills for practising the technique of BSR, but to develop the qualities of the heart, the qualities of caring, kindness, compassion, empathy and love. …Consequently, the Body Stress Release Academy is a heart-centred place of learning.”

THE EUROPEAN BODY STRESS RELEASE ACADEMY
The first training course at the Body Stress Release Academy Europe was held in 2014 at a beautiful venue just outside of Dorchester in Dorset. The Academy has now relocated to a new venue in the beautiful Norfolk Broads.
The course is residential, offering comfortable fully furnished accommodation in a tranquil setting in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, located just 20 minutes from the historic city of Norwich. At weekends there is also time for leisure activities. There are wonderful woodlands and waterways to discover as well as charming villages, an opportunity to enjoy quiet cycle ways and paths, miles of peaceful country lanes and wonderful coastal walks along Norfolk’s beaches.
The Academy faculty are five highly experienced European Body Stress Release practitioners from both the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, who all continue to run their own busy practices. They are Tracy Highton, Chris Balaam, Erik Onderweegs, Kees Varkevisser and Bjӧrn van der Ree who have all undergone the Body Stress Release Teacher Training Program.
