Introduction to Body Stress Release
BSR is a non-therapeutic complementary health technique based on the principle that the body can heal itself. We identify lines of tension and release them. We don’t diagnose or treat conditions. We don’t do massage, prescribe medication, manipulate limbs or work with machines. The information below is drawn from reports given by the client on his/her BSR experience.

Trauma
Most important point description:
The client's aunt brought him to see me. His grandpa who reared him and his sister died in a car crash. He and his sister showed no emotions after the news, they did not talk about their grandfather’s death then and not afterwards either. They loved him dearly and to them he was their father too. They did not know their father. The sister withdrew completely.
Other symptoms:
This withdrawn behaviour worried their mother and the rest of the family.

Impact on life:
The family followed my radio talks about Body Stress Release and urged him to try it. He was very reluctant but after I explained the types of stress the body stores he seemed more at ease. He had no complaints except for finding it hard to sleep. He misses his grandpa and kept thinking of him.
Changes to symptoms:
The client slept in the car on the way home 30km away after his first session! He was frustrated and kept complaining that he could not exercise. He said he felt uncomfortable in his body and could not sleep on his back. He had 2 headaches whereas he had not experienced a headache in his life before. His legs were nearly even where the leg length was uneven before. While doing a release on the chest area he immediately shouted out that it was sore. After the second session his aunt said he was another person. He was grumpy, frustrated, talked to no one and kept to his room. He said his muscles felt sore and that he thinks he had the flu. And that BSR is making him sick! During the third session his legs were even. While doing a release on the neck area he started crying. He cried a lot, an indication that at last he was able to release all the pent up grief at the sudden loss of his beloved grandfather.

Insights – How the body can heal itself:
The body can heal itself and Body Stress Release helps facilitate the body's self-healing process. The body does the healing in a very organised way and the healing happens in the body's own time, following its innate wisdom. This client is very young. He was 12 years old when his grandfather died. After the traumatic way their beloved grandpa and father was removed from their lives they did not know what to do with the grief and the caving in of their world. Children can express their grief in different ways.
